Uwe Ommer

Uwe Ommer se passionne pour la photographie dès son plus jeune âge. En 1962, il s’installe à Paris, où il travaille d’abord comme assistant photographe et s’impose rapidement par la qualité de son travail dans la photographie de mode et de publicité. Il commence à exposer dans des galeries parisiennes et publie son premier livre en 1979, Photoedition Uwe Ommer, un recueil mêlant ouvres personnelles et publicitaires. Au cours des années suivantes paraissent sept nouveaux livres, dont Transit et 1000 Familles sur son voyage autour du monde. Uwe Ommer a été distingué par la Royal Photographic Society pour l’ensemble de son œuvre.


Uwe Ommer became fascinated with photography at a young age and in 1962 moved to Paris, where he initially worked as a photographer’s assistant. Within only a few years, he had opened his own photography studio, primarily shooting fashion and advertising photos. Quickly gaining respect for hs work in Paris, Ommer began showing in local galleries and eventally published his first book, Photoedition Uwe Ommer, in 1979, a collection of personal and advertising works. In the following years, he would publish seven more books of his photographs. Uwe Ommer was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society for his lifetime work in photography.
